This is a nice beach for relaxing and enjoying the scenery though it isn’t the best swimming beach due to the expanses of mud-flats around this portion of Molokai. The nearshore waters are sandy and rocky, and also very shallow. To the west of the beach is Kapuiwa Royal Coconut Grove that covers about ten acres and was originally planted by King Kamehameha V in 1860. Recently this area has been replanted and refurbished.
Beautiful sunsets can be seen at Kiowea Beach.
Need to Know
Use extreme caution if entering the coconut grove as falling coconuts may be extremely dangerous.
Restrooms, shelter picnic areas, picnic tables, barbecue grills.
Follow Hwy. 460 west from Kaunakakai and you will see Kiowea Beach about one mile down on the left just before the famous coconut grove.
