These two beaches are located not far from Kona town. Protected by a large offshore reef, Aiopio Beach is fun for kids who often play in the tidepools within the sandy inlet, and there are plenty of shady areas for relaxing.
As part of the Kaloko-Honokohau National Historic Park, Aiopio Beach is rich in archaeological and cultural sites. Honokohau Beach is a salt-and-pepper beach located just to the north of Aiopio and has a nice swimming area right in the middle of the beach. There are great views of the island’s western coastline from here.
