This attractive white sand beach on the Kona side of the Big Island is popular with kids due to the gently sloping sand and protective offshore reef that provides for safe swimming almost all year around. Spencer Beach Park is also one of the Big Island’s best beach parks for camping. Open grass lawn areas and shade trees provide plenty of places to relax.

Highlights
Hawaiian green sea turtles can often be seen swimming near the coral reef area by the breakwater on the northwest end of the beach. Spencer Beach is a great family beach for snorkeling and seeing sea life.
Need to Know
You can walk from Spencer Beach Park to Puukohola and Mailekine heiaus which are located at the Puukohola Heiau National Historic Site. Always use caution when entering the ocean, particularly during times of high surf.
