Honolua Bay

Honolua Bay – surf in the winter & snorkel during summer

Honolua Bay, a protected area that is abundant with sea life, with catamaran floating amidst the beautiful coral reef
Located in the Kapalua area of northwestern Maui, Honolua Bay is part of a marine life preserve

Honolua Bay provides outstanding snorkeling and scuba diving when the sea is calm, usually during the summer months, and this is also when the water is clearest. When a swell is running, typically during the winter months, Honolua is a world-class surfing beach. There is only a small sandy beach at Honolua, which is nice for sunbathing, though the real draw of this beach is offshore. Snorkeling is best on the right side of the bay.

Great For

Snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming when the water is calm. Surfing when a swell is running. Fishing is not allowed because this area is a marine preserve.
