This beach is famous as one of the world’s premier windsurfing and kitesurfing spots along with Hookipa Beach. Surfers also enjoy the waves of Kanaha when a swell is running. Many locals frequent Kanaha to fish, swim and play volleyball as well as watersports. The area on the Kahului end of Kanaha is often referred to as Kite Beach because it is a favorite kitesurfing area.

This large beach provides a respite from other more crowded areas and there is plenty of room to relax and enjoy a beautiful Maui day. Cruise ships dock about 1.5 miles from Kanaha so you may see a passenger or two.
Need to Know
Swimmers at Kanaha have to keep an eye out for the many windsurfers and kitesurfers zipping around and launching and landing at the beach. There is a designated swimming area at the east end of the park which is delineated by buoys.

Access
Kanaha Beach Park is located off of Amala Place in Kahului behind the airport. Follow the Hana Hwy. toward Wailuku and go right on Hobron Ave. and then about 1/4-mile down take the next right turn that is a road (this is Amala Place but there may not be a sign). Kahana Beach Park is about one mile ahead.
